Private schools to shut from Sept 3
Private school groups, including PABSON, N-PABSON, HISSAN, and OPEN, have announced a series of protests across Nepal against the Education Bill. They warn of possible indefinite school closures if their demands are not met by Bhadra 18 (Sept 3).

Private school operators in Nepal, including PABSON, N-PABSON, HISSAN, and OPEN, have announced a second phase of protests against the recently passed Education Bill. The groups claim the bill contains “unfair” provisions that directly harm private schools and necessitate strong action.
The protest program begins on Bhadra 12 (August 28) with mass awareness rallies in every district headquarters. In Kathmandu, the rally will take place at Maitighar Mandala, starting as a corner assembly.
Following internal preparation and meetings on Bhadra 14–15, the groups plan a school bus rally on Bhadra 16 (September 1), with buses flying black flags across all districts. In Kathmandu, the buses will circle the 27 km Ring Road at a slow speed of 20 km/hr. Additional meetings are scheduled on Bhadra 17 to review the plan and prepare for further actions.
The second round of mass protests will take place on Bhadra 18 (September 3) across all districts, with a major rally in Kathmandu at Maitighar Mandala. The school operators have warned that if the government does not address their demands by this date, private schools may shut down indefinitely.
