School closure plan postponed for now

Private school umbrella groups in Nepal have decided not to shut schools immediately, as the House of Representatives postponed the Education Bill discussion.

Leaders from PABSON, National PABSON, HISAN, APEN, and NMA said the move should not be seen as the end of their protest.

They continue to oppose rules in the bill, including mandatory non-profit registration, full scholarships, and distribution of uniforms and textbooks.

The groups said they will continue their movement in a planned way and announce new protest strategies until lawmakers address their concerns.
