British Army Praises Nepali Army for Global Peace and Stability
The Nepali Army has been praised by the British Army for its important role in keeping peace around the world. Major General Carl Boswell CBE, Chief of Staff of the British Army, spoke highly of the Nepali Army during a ceremony at the Nepali Embassy in London for the 263rd Nepali Army Day.
Major General Boswell said that Nepali soldiers have made exceptional contributions to United Nations peacekeeping missions, and their work is respected worldwide. He also highlighted the army’s gold medal win at the Cambrian Patrol Exercise 2025 in Wales, showing their endurance, strategy, teamwork, and leadership.
He added that Gurkha soldiers are brave, loyal, and professional, and they symbolize the strong friendship between Nepal and the United Kingdom. He recalled a recent visit to Nepal by senior British officers, saying such visits help both armies work together better.
Acting Nepali Ambassador Bipin Duwaadi said the Nepali Army has done an excellent job protecting the borders, helping during disasters, and building international relations. He praised the army for its discipline, courage, and dedication.
Brigadier General Anup Shah, military attaché at the embassy, said that the Nepali Army has played an important role in nation-building, peacekeeping, and military diplomacy. He also mentioned that Nepal has been a member of the United Nations since 1955 and can provide up to 10,000 soldiers for peacekeeping if needed.
The ceremony also showed the long history of cooperation between Nepal and the UK, including joint training, disaster help, professional exchanges, and teamwork for international peace. The event included a joint lighting of a lamp by Major General Boswell and Ambassador Duwaadi, the national anthems of both countries, and a cake-cutting to celebrate Nepali Army Day. Over 100 people attended, including senior officials and members of the Nepali community in the UK.
This recognition shows that the Nepali Army is respected worldwide for its contribution to peace and safety, and highlights the strong bond between the armies of Nepal and the UK.
