Snowfall in Gupsi After Three Years

Snowfall was recorded in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Gorkha on Wednesday. Areas including Laprak and over two dozen settlements of Chum Nubri and Dharche rural municipalities were blanketed in snow. Gupsi Pakha and Singla of Dharche witnessed snowfall after three years.

With the snowfall, visitors have started arriving in Laprak and Gupsi Pakha to enjoy the snow. Located at an altitude of 2,900 meters, Gupsi has become a major attraction, especially after similar houses were built there following the Gorkha earthquake.

While heavy snowfall has caused difficulties for livestock farmers and frozen water sources have created drinking water problems, farmers remain hopeful as the snow is expected to benefit wheat, barley, potato and buckwheat crops.
