Private School Operators Rally with Buses on Ring Road

Private school operators in Kathmandu staged a large rally on the Ring Road, using yellow school buses to protest against the recently passed Education Bill. The operators demand the removal of provisions requiring private schools to provide full scholarships and transition to non-profit institutions.

The rally was organized jointly by PABSON, National PABSON, HISSAN, OPEN, and NMA, pressuring the government to amend the bill passed by the Ministry of Education, Health, and Information Technology.

During the protest, a long line of yellow school buses occupied one lane of the Ring Road, causing traffic congestion in some areas. Despite this, organizers described the rally as symbolic and peaceful, emphasizing that no disruptions were intended.

Organizers urged the government to address their concerns and engage in dialogue to revise the bill. They highlighted that the provisions could significantly affect private school operations and financial sustainability, calling for a balanced approach to education reform.
