ABSON Protests School Education Bill with Nationwide Slow-Motion Bus Rally
The Association of Private Schools in Nepal (ABSON) held a large protest against the proposed School Education Bill. School buses participated in a slow-motion rally across Kathmandu’s Ring Road, urging lawmakers to address concerns affecting private schools.

Kathmandu – The Association of Private Schools in Nepal (ABSON) staged a major protest today against the recently proposed School Education Bill, arguing that the legislation undermines the interests of private schools nationwide. The protest began at 11 AM, with school buses participating in a coordinated slow-motion rally to draw public attention to their demands.
School buses across Nepal displayed black banners and moved at a restricted speed of 20 km/h. In Kathmandu, the vehicles circled the 27-kilometer Ring Road, carrying large banners highlighting private schools’ opposition to certain provisions of the bill.
ABSON representatives stated that if passed without amendments, the bill could negatively affect the autonomy of private schools, their financial stability, and the quality of education offered. Officials emphasized that the protest was peaceful but intended to send a strong message to lawmakers.
The protest has sparked discussions among parents, educators, and policymakers. Many are calling for dialogue between the government and private school associations to ensure reforms benefit all stakeholders without compromising the interests of students or educational institutions.
