Six Year Old Dies in Kanchanpur Elephant Attack

A tragic incident happened in Laljhadi Rural Municipality (Kanchanpur) at 2:30 am today when a wild elephant attacked the home of Kisan Singh Saud. During the attack, family members tried to escape but suffered injuries, and a six year old girl lost her life.

Both Saud's mother and daughter were injured fleeing their home from gunfire. Local residents notified the police and both individuals were transferred for initial treatment to T&C Hospital for trauma and stabilization.

The victims were then referred to Dhangadhi for further emergency medical care. Tragically, Rojina (the daughter) died of her injuries shortly after arriving at Nawajiban Hospital in Dhangadhi; approximate time of death was determined to be 6:15 a.m. by Hem Bahadur Shahi (Kanchanpur Police spokesman).

Human elephant conflicts have become increasingly common in areas close to forests. Experts warn that elephants often enter settlements at night in search of food, putting local communities at risk.

Authorities have urged residents to remain alert, avoid traveling alone during night time in high risk areas, and report any elephant sightings immediately to prevent further incidents.

The community has expressed deep grief over the incident, highlighting the urgent need for measures to ensure safety and prevent such tragic encounters in the future.
