A man in Kanchanpur has been arrested for allegedly pouring hot oil on his wife and setting her on fire while she was cooking sel roti at home in Bhimdatta Municipality–8 on 5 Poush 2082, leaving her injured. Police have taken the 34 year old accused into custody and are investigating the incident under charges related to the use of harmful substances to cause injury and disfigurement.
This time, a wife was left most unsafe inside her own home, with the very person she trusted the most,her husband becoming the accused. The incident comes from Bhimdatta Municipality–8, Tilachaur in Kanchanpur, a district in western Nepal. According to police, a 34 year old man, Ashok Bhatt, has been arrested on allegations of brutally attacking his wife by pouring hot oil on her and setting her on fire. The incident reportedly took place on 5 Poush 2082 while the victim was in the kitchen cooking sel roti.
Police said the woman was suddenly attacked inside the kitchen, causing severe injuries. Following the incident, she was rushed for immediate medical treatment. Her condition has not been detailed, but authorities confirmed she was injured in the attack. Meanwhile, the accused husband was taken into custody by the District Police Office, Kanchanpur soon after the incident.
Investigators said the case is being handled under legal provisions related to the use of harmful substances with intent to cause physical harm and disfigurement.
