RSP Kapilvastu District Organizing Chief Bhattarai Arrested

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Kapilvastu district organizing chief Rikhiram Bhattarai has been arrested by police, authorities confirmed on Tuesday. Bhattarai, a resident of Banganga Municipality–8, Dhaneshpur, was taken into custody for allegedly sharing sensitive bank transaction documents related to an ongoing police investigation on his Facebook account.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ripendra Kumar Singh, Bhattarai publicly posted the documents on his Facebook wall on Magh 26. Following complaints regarding the breach of confidentiality and the spread of hatred and hostility through social media, police initiated action and arrested him on Tuesday.

“Complaints were received that he was posting various content on Facebook that spread hatred and violated privacy,” DSP Singh said. “Legal proceedings have been initiated against him under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063.”

Police further stated that Bhattarai had previously been involved in repeatedly defaming individuals through social media posts. He has been remanded to three days of judicial custody by the Kapilvastu District Court for further investigation. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
