Mastermind of Balen Shah House Theft Caught
Bishnu Bahadur Rajwahak, who escaped from Nakkhu Prison during the Gen Z protests, has been arrested with two others for breaking into the house of senior political leader Balen Shah. The other two individuals arrested in connection with the incident are Khim Bahadur Khadka and Sanjay Shrestha. They all had prior accusations of participating in their thefts, prior to breaking into Shah's home.
Authorities recovered items from the three individuals that had been stolen from the Shah residence, including silverware, computers (including laptops and Macbooks), and CCTV equipment. Investigators discovered that the three men had a conspiracy to sell these stolen items, which included Rajwahak being the mastermind of the group and of the previous five thefts. In addition to Rajwahak being a primary suspect in this case, he also was involved in at least 5 additional thefts after escaping from jail.
The police have confirmed that the arrested individuals had records of earlier convictions for various offenses such as theft or robbery and were known to carry out such crimes together (i.e., repeatedly robbing the same business). They stated that this was part of a larger effort to disrupt organized crime in the capital city, as well as to address the ongoing problem of theft.
This case highlights ongoing concerns about security for public figures, with authorities urging residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity.
