Nepal Communist Party (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokharel announced a major public rally in Kathmandu on Mangsir 27 (Dec 12), claiming it will be the largest in Nepal’s history. Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Chautari Nepal, he said the rally aims to disprove the narrative that people have distanced themselves from major political parties.
The UML has planned a series of events leading up to the rally: ward-level meetings on Kartik 22, municipality rallies on Kartik 25, district assemblies on Kartik 29, and a valley-wide rally and meeting on Mangsir 6. Pokharel emphasized that the public never supports violence, anarchy, or looting, and this rally will demonstrate where people’s support truly lies.
The announcement reflects UML’s effort to mobilize supporters nationwide and strengthen public confidence in the party ahead of upcoming political events.
