Nepal Election Atlas Published For Interactive View of Parliamentary Poll Data

The Nepal Election Atlas, which is an interactive digital map, has been launched to visualize the election results of the House of Representatives (HoR) elections at the constituency level. The digital platform is a data reference tool for the election season, which enables users to engage with the results and trends at the 165 parliamentary constituencies in Nepal with the help of a simple map interface.

The atlas provides past results of historical HoR elections held in 2079 (2022), as well as lists of candidates for the upcoming 2082 election. Additionally, users of the atlas can find detailed data on levels of voter turnout, as well as margin of victory, thereby gaining more insight into the levels of competition within past elections.

Various features have been incorporated into this platform to ensure that the results are easy to read and understand. Some of these features include a party color legend and a party color mode. The visual results clearly show the winning party in line with the electoral system, ensuring that users can comprehensively understand different constituencies. This color-coding helps in differentiating political parties and interpreting results on the map.

As an explanation of how it works, it illustrates Nepal’s system of first past the post electoral systems, where a winner is selected by a constituency and only represents that area and is elected by having more votes than others. The electoral results shown on the map are presented based on the winner per constituency.

The map provides a general overview of results from the election, with a total of 165 constituencies in Nepal, as Nepali Congress receiving 57 seats. The Nepal Election Atlas represents a reliable source of information on election results and is free to access by the public, journalists and other individuals.
