Ballot Paper Transportation Intensifies in Karnali Ahead of Elections
The Election Commission has begun transporting ballot papers to 10 districts of Karnali Province for the upcoming elections. Ballot printing, packaging, and logistics have been accelerated nationwide as election preparations enter their final phase.
The Election Commission has started transporting ballot papers to 10 districts of Karnali Province as part of preparations for the upcoming elections. According to the Commission, ballot papers printed for 12 constituencies are currently being dispatched to Salyan, Rukum West, Dolpa, Mugu, Humla, Kalikot, Jumla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, and Surkhet.
Assistant spokesperson of the Election Commission, Prakash Nyaupane, stated that ballot printing has been completed for 124 constituencies across 58 districts nationwide. So far, a total of 157.78 million ballot papers have been printed, indicating significant progress in election logistics.
The Commission further informed that ballot printing for districts including Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum West, Salyan, and Surkhet—along with several districts in Sudurpashchim and Koshi provinces—has already been completed. In parallel, 14,341 ballot boxes have been packed so far.
On average, around 1,000 ballot boxes are being packed daily, while 1.3 to 1.5 million ballot papers are printed each day. Ballot papers for the House of Representatives under the first-past-the-post (direct) electoral system are being printed at the Janak Education Materials Centre Limited in Sanothimi.
In the first phase, 1,098,200 sample ballot papers were printed and dispatched to the concerned districts. For the proportional representation system, 20.83 million ballot papers had been printed, packaged, and prepared for transportation by Magh 13.
Meanwhile, the Commission has set a target of printing 20.32 million ballot papers for the direct election system, a process that began on Magh 16. As the election date approaches, the Election Commission has intensified ballot printing, packaging, and transportation efforts to ensure timely and secure delivery across the country.
