Protests Impact Police Investigations
During the Genz movement police offices were vandalized and set on fire, destroying many documents and missiles.
During the Genz movement, on 23 and 24 Bhadra, police offices were vandalized and set on fire. In those incidents, a huge number of documents and case files were destroyed.
The loss of these files has created difficulties in continuing the criminal investigations and subsequent litigation processes. The police, since the destruction, have called on victims and those who submit complaints to get in touch with the respective police offices.
The Kathmandu District Police Office issued a notice that reads, “Due to vandalism and fire, documents and case files were destroyed. Victims and complainants are requested to contact the police office.”
The District Police Office has also requested that people approach the concerned police offices with whatever documents they still have in their possession.
