Prachanda Says: Elections Must Be Held on Scheduled Date with Consensus of All Parties

Kathmandu, November 17. The coordinator of the Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, today came up with calls for forging consensus among all political parties to create a suitable environment for ensuing elections. He told journalists at the party headquarters in Parisdanda on Monday that the election could be held in a smooth manner only if all political forces cooperate and agree over the electoral process.

"Everyone must participate responsibly and seriously in the election process with mutual agreement," he said. "The elections must be held on the scheduled date, and to ensure this, a consensus must be built among all parties to create the right environment." Dahal highlighted the importance of coordination and unity among parties to uphold the democratic process and ensure that the elections are conducted fairly and transparently.

He particularly emphasized that the elections must be held on Falgun 21 as announced by the government, underlining the need for political maturity and cooperation to respect the schedule. For further strategy and agreement, Dahal informed that a meeting of the party's former office-bearers will conclude on Tuesday.

"Responsibilities will be shared and the message of unity will be carried forward together. We received many good suggestions and tomorrow, we will finalise everything," he added.

Analysts say that Dahal's call for consensus is indicative of the ongoing efforts by Nepal's major parties to ensure that the elections are conducted without any hiccups, political tensions are reduced, and people develop trust in the democratic system.
