Young Nepalis (Gen Z) have started protesting at Maitighar Mandala against corruption, mismanagement, and the government’s decision to ban social media. The spontaneous protest saw students, many in school and college uniforms, carrying placards with slogans like “Gen Z shouts, mocking the corrupt.”
Gen Z youth in Nepal have begun street protests against corruption, poor governance, and the recent government decision to ban social media platforms. The protest kicked off at Maitighar Mandala, Kathmandu, with spontaneous participation from students and young professionals.
Protesters carried placards with bold slogans such as “Gen Z shouts, mocking the corrupt.” Many youths were seen in their school and college uniforms, showing strong defiance against the government’s decision.
For years, frustration was largely expressed only through posts on social media. But now, Gen Z has taken that anger to the streets.
The movement has gained support from political representatives, artists, professionals, and independent youths across the country, reflecting a broader discontent with governance and restrictions on free expression.
