Flood in Kanchanpur

Dhangadhi, 16 Bhadra – Continuous rainfall in Kanchanpur has caused the Jogbuda River to overflow, flooding 52 homes and two Armed Police border outposts (BOPs), police reported. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sagar Bohara, spokesperson for the District Police Office, said that the BOPs located in Dodhara Chandani Municipality-7 and Ward No. 10 were affected by the flood. The police immediately relocated personnel, equipment, and food supplies from the submerged posts to safer locations. Staff from Ward 7 were moved to the local urban vaccination center, while 23 personnel from Ward 10 were relocated to Ombar Basic School. Residents from flood-affected areas were also relocated to safer shelters. Seventy people from 25 homes on Rampure Island in Ward 8 were moved to Janjyoti Secondary School, 55 people from 15 homes in Patarakhalla (Ward 3) were moved to Jamuna Basic Secondary School, and 40 people from 12 homes in Shanti Tol (Ward 10) were moved to Ambika Secondary School. Due to the high water level of the Mahakali River, four-wheeled vehicle traffic remains suspended. As of the evening update, the river’s flow has slightly reduced to 203,830 cubic meters per second, but the Sharda Barrage is still closed for vehicular movement. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, conduct rescue operations, and provide relief to the affected population.
