“Won’t join elections until justice served: Sudan Gurung”

Kathmandu, November 13 — GENZ representative Sudan Gurung has stated that the demands of GENZ are unlikely to be met by Om Prakash Aryal, Home Minister of the interim government.

Gurung, speaking to journalists at the Election Commission on Thursday, underscored that their movement was not only about delaying the election to be held in 2084 to 2082 but that they would not join the election before the fulfillment of their demands, notably justice to martyrs and the injured. He said that while the government made elections its ultimate objective, it was justice for the GENZ movement.

"We will not go to the elections. Our fight is not only to shift the 2084 elections to 2082. So many people have been injured and martyred. Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has betrayed us," said Gurung. "Now, when we are asked to participate, the government says the target is only the election. The demands of the injured must be addressed. Where would we go for elections without justice? Our commitments have not been fulfilled, and there is no hope that justice will be provided."

He also objected to the portrayal that their demands are only about the Nepal government, calling it a misrepresentation.
