Laminar Vitrified Tiles Receive Nepal Standard Certification
Laminar Vitrified Tiles have received Nepal Standard Product Certification under the newly implemented NS 617:2082 standard. The certification was issued by the Department of Standards and Metrology, marking a significant step for Nepal’s ceramic sector.
Lumbini Ceramics Limited’s Laminar Vitrified Tiles have received Nepal Standard Product Certification under the newly implemented NS 617:2082 standard. The certification was issued by the Department of Standards and Metrology, marking a notable step for Nepal’s ceramic tile industry.
Laminar Vitrified Tiles are certified in the Fully Vitrified Tiles category (Group B Ia). This category is defined by low water absorption (≤ 0.08%) and high material density, which are considered key performance indicators in ceramic tiles.
The NS 617 standard aligns with India’s IS 15622 and, in certain aspects, meets or exceeds international benchmarks such as ISO 13006. The standard provides a framework for classifying ceramic tiles based on technical performance rather than appearance or price.
A key feature of the standard is the permanent marking of tile classification on each Laminar Vitrified Tile, allowing buyers and installers to verify the category before installation. Industry observers say this step is expected to improve consumer confidence and support domestic production.
Ashutosh Khetan, Managing Director of Lumbini Ceramics Limited, described the certification as a significant achievement for the company and the industry.
Laminar Vitrified Tiles are produced at Lumbini Ceramics’ facility in Bardiya, which operates in compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 standards. The tiles are available through authorized dealers nationwide, and further technical information can be found at www.laminartiles.com.
