Sichuan Airlines has applied to Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority to start regular flights from Pokhara International Airport to Australia via Chengdu. Flights are expected to begin in September, expanding the airline’s international operations.

Sichuan Airlines of China plans to start regular flights from Pokhara International Airport to Australia via Chengdu. The airline has submitted an application to Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAAN) for approval. CAAN officials said preparations are underway and the process will be completed soon.
Flights are expected to begin this September, marking a significant expansion in international connectivity from Pokhara. Previously, Sichuan Airlines operated chartered flights to Pokhara, but the new plan aims to establish Australia as a regular destination.
Sichuan Airlines, the largest airline in Western China and based in Chengdu, is seeking to strengthen its international operations. Bilateral discussions between the airline and Nepalese authorities are ongoing to finalize the flight schedule.
Once approved, the new flights are expected to boost tourism and trade between Nepal, China, and Australia, providing more convenient options for travelers and supporting Pokhara International Airport’s role as a growing international hub.
