Kathmandu – The Government of Nepal has announced plans to take a loan of NRs 30 Arba from Japan to construct a tunnel and multiple flyovers at the Koteshwor Intersection. The project aims to ease traffic congestion in one of the busiest areas of the capital and reduce travel time for commuters.

Officials said the initiative will improve traffic flow and enhance overall road safety in the area. The development is part of Nepal’s broader efforts to modernize infrastructure and support urban mobility, addressing growing traffic challenges in Kathmandu.

The project will include the construction of a tunnel and several flyovers designed to streamline vehicle movement and reduce bottlenecks. Authorities highlighted that this infrastructure upgrade will also accommodate future increases in traffic volume.

Once completed, the tunnel and flyovers are expected to provide smoother and faster transportation, benefiting daily commuters as well as commercial transport operations, ultimately supporting economic activity and quality of life in Kathmandu.
